September 2024 Regular KSITE Section Meeting
Mike Herleth and Tim Cope will present on how summer travel patterns impact capacity planning.
Please note that due to issues with securing a meeting space we will be holding this meeting virtually. We plan to start at 12:00pm (noon).
Project Description: As part of transportation analyses for the US 54- at I-70 interchange, a comprehensive traffic and safety operations report was developed to assess potential alternatives. The study interchange services heavy truck traffic and experiences non-typical peaks correlating to weekend and holiday lake traffic. The project’s goals are to improve capacity for the connecting highways and enhance safety while supporting the established commercial community located at each quadrant of the interchange. For this project, we gathered data from a variety of sources, including traffic counts, cellular origin-destination data, filed recordings, public survey, and stakeholder meetings. The project is slated to be completed by the end of 2027.

Harvesters Donation: In addition to our normal meeting, we will be collecting our annual donation for Harvesters. Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. They also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition. Harvesters is a certified member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks. In 2011, Harvesters was Feeding America’s Food Bank of the Year. Since we are holding this meeting virtually at no cost, please consider donating to Harvesters in lieu of your typical meeting registration fee. Thank you for your generosity!
