Over the past year, Mandy Anderson and Matt Volz have been working with Kansas City’s World Cup Host Committee to highlight the benefits of KC's transportation infrastructure, develop the multi-modal event operations plan, craft the data showing the reliability of KC's transportation network, and promote Kansas City to FIFA transportation officials.  It of course all culminated in June with Kansas City being selected to host the World Cup in 2026!  This is a huge win for KC and the economic benefit is estimated to be over $650 million to the metro area.  Matt and Mandy will discuss how they became involved in the bid and how transportation will play a big role when the World Cup comes to Kansas City in four years.

In addition to our normal meeting, we will be collecting our annual donation for Harvesters. Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. They also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition.  Harvesters is a certified member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks. In 2011, Harvesters was Feeding America’s Food Bank of the Year.  You can either add your donation to your order or we will take cash/check at the registration table on the day of the meeting.  Thank you for your generosity!
